Garden Benches
Buying a Garden Bench

Wooden & Metal Garden Benches
Garden benches are available in a range of materials including teak, iroko, pine and aluminium plus various combinations such as cast iron and wood.
The traditional park style bench has always remained a popular choice for the garden, and there are now numerous variations on this design including curved back and high back benches. For additional garden storage, a box bench is a good option.

Garden Bench Cushions
Good looks doesn’t always mean comfort! Metal and wood garden benches are not the kindest of places to park your backside for any length of time. See our selection of garden bench cushions for a solution.
Companion Seats & Benches
The companion bench is based on an old design and features two chairs which are joined together and face the same direction. There will normally be a built-in table between the seats. There are a number of different types of companion seat available including traditional style teak and hardwood plus metal and textoline. The compact design makes the garden companion seat a good choice for small gardens, but don’t forget to buy a cushion for maximum comfort.
A variation on the companion seat is the ‘tete a tete’ or love seat which features two parallel seats facing in opposite directions. Popular in Victorian times, the love seat is still available today in both wood and metal. Rather confusingly, many garden furniture suppliers use the terms love seat and tete a tete for the slightly different companion seat! Two people sitting on a love seat will be facing each other - on a companion bench they will be facing the same direction.
Tree Seats & Tree Benches
In the height of summer, there’s no better spot than in the shade under the boughs of a tree. A wood or metal tree seat is a clever alternative to the conventional garden bench and provides seating directly around the tree trunk. There are also tree planters available that incorporate a raised bed around the tree in addition to bench seats. Tree seat benches are supplied in semi-circle sections for easy positioning.
